Intro to WWE Wrestlemania

In the terms of sports entertainment this is like the best week if you are a fan of wrestling. Yeah it’s one of our pleasures and if you are a ‘it’s all fake’ person or an avid fans like us, it’s an absolute minefield to organise. Not just Wrestlemania…What? What? (In the voice of Stone Cold Steve Austin ) I Hear you say, you heard us, there is a wrestling convention made up of independent wrestlers… it’s the who of who of sports entertainment. The atmosphere is electric and an emotional rollercoaster. While you are out and about keep your eyes peeled you never know who you might see… we have sat next to Bayley at breakfast in a IHOP, sat on a bench and Sting jumped out of a car next to us, Tyson Kidd walking down the road.

Travel Plans

  • The announcement of where the next site of Wrestlemania is comes about a year before, so this give you ample time to get on google maps to see where it is, time to look at flights
  • You also at this point need to think about what shows you want to go to,
  • Hotel , we would suggest that you wait to all the venues have been announced dependant whether you want a cheaper price and then plan from there
  • How you get from the airport to hotel
  • Also, to consider hotel to wrestling venue , can you walk it? Do you need transport?

WWE

  • Axxess – this is the WWE meet and greet, close to the time a schedule comes out saying who will be at which event, they start on Thursday evenings 5-9 and then Friday 9-1, 1-5, 5-9 and Saturday the same and Sunday is one slot. So at these events they have different superstar you can meet. You pay for a ticket which gives you access for 4 hours time slot, you have the opportunity to get lots of photos and autographs for paying nothing extra cost wise. In that time you can meet and greet as many people as you want, warning the queues can be very long. They also have VIP meet and greets which can be purchased separately. There are also lots of different things to see this year there were Ric flairs coats and some archived things like costumes and props. Different photos ops etc. If you are a fan it’s a must do.
  • At Axxess site  there is a WWE superstore selling lots of merchandise
  • Hall of Fame – inductees into the hall of fame
  • WWE NXT takeover -this kicks starts the wrestling shows for the WWE, I’m sure if you are reading this you know The NXT brand and the shows are not to be missed. If you want the ‘this is awesome’ chants they you need to see this. Saturday night
  • Wrestlemania – the greatest show on earth, the time and effort that goes into putting this together is incomprehensible, it runs for around 7 hours. The shocks and surprise returns and the atmosphere is next to none, remember the hardy boyz return, yep, we were there . Sunday
  • RAW – the fallout of the night before and usually for the raw after mania, it’s a rowdy atmosphere which makes the show. Mainly people who have travelled go to this. Includes surprise returns and the crowd is electric. Monday night
  • Smackdown – as RAW with the Smackdown roster again very loud, setting up storylines, and surprises. Tuesday night

Wrestlecon

  • Wrestlecon is separate to the WWE and this is a company that uses that same kind of plan as WWE, so there is a convention centre and wrestling shows, this is made up of independent wrestling companies and wrestlers
  • Wrestlecon – this covers 3 days Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where you pay a cheaper entrance ticket and then pay for the individual wrestlers you want to meet and greet. You can pay for either all 3 days or 1 days entrance. This is easy to book through their website.
  • They, also organise independent shows for different companies, which are for a more hard core fan, we enjoyed them, I would say that these are more for adults than children, as it is much more intimate and there is a lot of strong language.
  • Wrestlecon had coaches running to Wrestlemania in Florida which was a godsend, I would definitely recommend this if it’s a bit of a travel to the stadium, if you think of 80/90,000 people coming out at the end, it’s dark and busy.

Some meets and greets

Things to consider

  • Getting between venues if you are going between the two companies events see where they are and how long it will take you to get there. With the WWE it is very organised and you have a specific seat, when we  went to Wrestlecon it was more sit where you want, so makes sure you have enough time to get there a little early .
  • Souvenirs, whilst you are in the superstore, we tended to buy so much stuff as you get caught up in wonder of it all, if there are items that you are not going to wear, maybe hold back as a few months after they do go into the sale section of the wwe shop.
  • Preview sales code for WWE, so follow on social media the like of Stephanie McMahon, triple h and Vince McMahon and the release early codes for tickets. NXT are the most sought after tickets so get these ASAP.
  • Buying tickets for anything Wrestlecon go to their website , it’s the super show that sells out fastest for them
  • Make time for rest – it’s sound lame but I can assure you that these days are long and tiring especially if you are bouncing all over the place, stay hydrated.
  • There are companies which do travel packages so if you don’t have the time to sit in queues of website traffic hoping to get tickets, try these.
  • Most of all drink it mannnnnn!
