Most of us fans know that a lot of Kings Landing was filmed here so here are some we have found on our recent travels around Croatia!
Blackwater Bay (Dubrovnik)
- This location has been used a few times according to our guide so obviously from the title the famous battle where Tyrion got his scar.
- Where Cersei waits with The Mountain Jaime’s return with the body of her daughter after the sand snakes kills her. Apparently in this season while Cersei was on the beach she was watching a orange balloon to focus her emotions on as the boat section was shot in Ireland.
- How to find it .. if you are coming out of the old town through Pile Gate turn right and walk about 10 metres there is a gate descending down, go down the stairs, walk towards to kayak place and you will be in the bay.
Harbour
- Remember when Sansa was standing looking out talking to little finger with Shea standing behind her on the small pier
- Or Where Cersei sees Myrcella sail to Dorne.
- There are two ways to get here if you have found the above there is a kind of wide shelf which you can walk round if you don’t fancy this go back to Pile Gate walk forward past two restaurants on either side of the square after the 2nd restaurant, take a sharp left down the stairs to the end follow the path round then to the left you will find the harbour.
The House of the Undying
- Where the stolen baby dragons where kept and Khlaessi ran round to find her way in
- You need to walk the city walls for this one which is around 2km and costs 150 kuna per person.
Cersei’s walk of shame part 1
- These are the stairs coming from the Sept Of Baelor ( which is CGI) on to the Cersei’s walk of shame (walk of atonement)
- To film here all windows on this street were paid to be shut, for around €100 a day- some houses had up to 10 windows and the restaurants and cafes were also paid to close
- So if you are at the Strandun which is the Main Street in the old town the opposite end to the Pile Gate just before the church take the turning on the right walk through the tiny streets until it opens on a courtyard with a few restaurants walk through and it right in front of you as above.
Walk of shame part two
- These are the steps up to the Red Keep where after the walk of shame The Mountain carried Cersei away to safety
- This is again in the same start position in strandun looking away from Pile Gate go through the arch by the tower follow round past the turning on the right for the harbour and it’s straight in front of you.
Underground scenes
- This has been used a few times in shots of underground runnng like in the crypts or passages
- This is in Fort Lovrijenac which can be seen from above black water bay and the harbour. Entrance fee 50 Kuna.
In the Red Keep
- Where little finger tried to blackmail Cersei
- Again this is in Fort Lovrijenac as directly above
Joffreys Name Day
- Where Sansa saves Sir Danton’s Holland from King Jeffrey anger and making him drink until he drowned
- This fort can also be hired out for events or wedding priced for €5000 – how cool
- Again as above for directions
The Purple Wedding
- This area was dressed for the celebration of King Joffrey and Margery’s wedding and where he met his final fate. ( deserved we say)
- This is Park Gradac which is behind the Fort if you follow the main road up the hill. Turn off left o the main road.
The gold cloaks
- This is where the gold clocks were ordered to find and kill all of King Robert Baratheon bastards
- You can see this from the harbour as above
We loved reliving the Game of Thrones series and it gives you an ‘eek’ feeling when you see it come to life. If you are not wanting to pay out for the GOT tours this will easily get you round the sites .. Valor Mogulis .. valor Doheris .. or not today as we are excited to see all
