Intro to Las Vegas
This was our first place to visit in The USA, and from that point we understood the saying ‘everything is so much bigger. You hit the Vegas strip and it’s like you are on a different planet, it’s so surreal.
You can go into the hotels and casinos, what we have listed below is our top five free things to see in the hotels on the strip…you won’t believe your eyes for some of the spectacular displays.
There are lots of different shopping experiences to have along the strip, with masses of designer boutiques for when you win your fortune.
So many different places to eat and of course the casinos
“Las Vegas is the only place I know where money really talks – it says Goodbye. – Frank Sinatra
Bellagio
- You cannot visit Las Vegas without being drawn to the fountains outside the Bellagio, you have the music hot and the crowds drawn to them. Whether it’s daytime or nighttime it’s a must see of this area. The music drifting around is like a magnetic to watch, the water dancing is just magical.
- In the hotel – across the lobby from the front desk is an opening through which a glass ceiling rises up 50 feet. This is the beautiful Conservatory and botanical gardens you can wander through. This area changes seasonal so if you are lucky to go more than once through the year, definitely worth going again
- Also, check out the floral ceiling, Chihuly is the artist who created “Fiori di Como,” the glass sculpture that hangs from the ceiling in Bellagio’s lobby.
Volcano at The Mirage
- The volcano at the Mirage this happens at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm, Check out the heat from this attraction
- The best side is too stand at the left of the volcano, would suggest to get their a little early just to get a good spot, same as the fountain.
- Usually the time spent here is 45 minutes average.
Ceasars Palace
- At the forum inside Caesars palace, we caught a show completely by accident we were having lunch in one of the restaurants, did wonder why they were so busy. This is called ‘ the fall of Atlantis’ with fire and water, great to watch.
- Here are also places to eat and shop in the area.
The Venetian
- As the title suggests you may think Italian, oh no not just Italian, its is like Venice itself, with canals, gondolas and complete scenery and sky, you can easily forget you are in the middle of a desert.
- The gondoliers if you get there early come out singing as they walk to the canal, you won’t believe your eyes.
- Just take a stroll through the Italian-inspired archways and stonework transports you right into the heart of Venice, Italy. The Renaissance yielded incredible frescos, sculptures, it really has you in awe.
- In the center of The Palazzo Lobby, Samuel G. Bocchicchio’s “Acqua di Cristallo” is a unique water feature
Luxor hotel
- The Luxor is easy to spot as it is a pyramid, lots of Egyptian style decor, such as esphargos, Sphinx
- The Luxor also houses a cleopatra’s needle in the middle of the floor
- Also, at night a blue light projects from the top of the pyramid into the night sky, so if your one for losing your directions, this may be a good starting point.
Jayne note- Sometimes when you go into these massive hotels it’s really difficult to find your way out.
