Such a mix of different vibes from the over the top street entertainers to the beautiful beaches there is something for everyone, or us we loved it all.

“In Los Angeles everyone is a star.”

 -Denzel Washington

Hollywood Sign

  • HOLLYWOOD is spelt out in 44 foot white capital letters and is 352 feet long
  • The sign can be seen from lots of different places, there is a bridge in the shopping centre on Hollywood Boulevard for a good view
  • There are tours that go up (paid) to the around the sign. If you intend to go up the terrain is steep and you can be fined and other penalties if you trespass.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

  • Everyone has heard of it, and there are lots of stars, the walk of fame have an official website if you want to find a specific star, otherwise you may be wandering for a while.
  • Also, on the official website you can find out when and who is having a star normally scheduled from around 1130-1215.
  • As of 2018 there were more than 2,600 five-pointed terrazzo and brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in Hollywood.

Santa Monica

  • Santa Monica is on the coast and west of downtown LA
  • Sandy beaches, great views and the famous pier
  • Access to the Pier is free, lots of points to take photos to reminisce on – you have the Backdrop of Malibu one side of this.
  • Lots of exclusive boutique style shops if you are looking for a unique souvenir

Venice Beach

  • When we think Venice Beach we think boardwalks, beaches, cafes and restaurants and time for people watching and lots of street entertainers to amuse and enjoy
  • There is lots of artist expressions in the form of street art – just wander and you will find some
  • And of course, Venice would be Venice if you didn’t check out the canals.
  • Muscle beach and skate park just watch people who have honed their skills

Chinese Theatre

  • Originally opened in 1927 and it has changed names a few times, now names TCL Chinese Theatre
  • On Hollywood Boulevard, you can’t miss this magnificently ornate building a must see for movie addicts
  • On the floor outside here, there are lots of handprints, footprints and signatures from Harry Potter to the black and white star Harold Lloyd. Great to satisfy your inner fandom.

PS – one of my favorite places if you had a spiritual animal of places this would be mine LA, hope you enjoy it as much as me  – Jayne
