Our mini break to Scotland and where else to go but Edinburgh with its contrasting green of the hills to earthy coloured castle rock.

Scottish National Gallery

  • Located on the Mound – a well spaced gallery with lots of different works (some exhibitions do come at a fee)
  • Also has a cafe and restaurant that provides locally sourced food, look at that view they have an outside area as pictured above.. drink it in

Arthur’s Seat

  • This must be the best way to get a truly Scottish blast, hiking up to the top of Arthur’s seat
  • Panoramic views all round is one way to celebrate your achieve, definitely make sure you have had your haggis,tatties and neeps before you do this

Greyfriars Bobby

  • The well known story of Greyfriars bobby – is that the terrier spent 14 years guarding the grave of its owner until until he passed away himself
  • Disney made this story into a film
  • The statue is in place and tourists run his nose for good luck

Deans Village

  • Just as you head out of Edinburgh before going over Deans Bridge -a left turn
  • This brings you to a picturesque village which is a hidden gem walk along the leith waterway
  • Romantic walk along takes you back into main Edinburgh with weird and bridges along the way

The Royal Mile

  • The Royal Mile runs from Edinburgh Castle at the top to Holyrood Palace at the bottom
  • With great shops selling tartan, whiskey and tours and souvenirs spread out along the way
  • You get to the Palace at the bottom in all it’s glory and opposite is the Scottish Parliament Building built in a modern architecture
