Getting there

  • We took the Eurostar from Ashford International to Gard du Nord, take around 2 hours, you can also pick this up from St Pancras if you are in London.

Where to stay

  • Hotel – we stayed in a hotel right near the station in Paris from £160 a night.
  • Airbnb – from around £70 a night.

What to do

  • Eiffel Tower – whether you go up or not there are different views to capture and what a romantic setting, pricing €25 to the top via lift per adult.
  • Louvre – this was one of our fav, the glass pyramid, prices for the museum start from £17, and who wouldn’t take the opportunity the see the Mona Lisa.
  • Norte Dame cathedral – beautiful architecture, you can get a guided tour from £14, great views.
  • Champs elysees – a grand avenue in Paris which is peppered with shops for all types, built in the 17th century, even if you are not an ultimate shopper just stroll.
  • River Seine – we walked along the bank to the Eiffel Tower, came across the love lock bridge from those who are romantic at heart.
  • Moulin rouge – €127 for the famous cabaret and soak in the atmosphere.

What to eat

  • The French delicacies of snails and frog legs would be the food discover things to do, but for us it wasn’t, Hope you enjoy.
  • We went to Le Victory and had the most delicious lunch as pictured above, a little bit off the main drag but worth the extra steps.
  • A Patisserie is definately where we would stop looking at the artisan cakes, for the sweet tooth among us.

Other Things to Know

  • Currency – Euro.
  • What to buy/souvenirs – berets, macaroons, champagne.
  • Cost – as listed above.
  • Weather – we stayed in Paris in October the weather was not the best for photos but still warm.
  • Tipping – restaurants 10-15% , taxis 10% of fare, talking to some French people we met depends on the service you receive.
  • Getting around – We walked everywhere to see the sights, the are cruises you can take up the river for a different view.
