Bucketlist and what makes it this… the blue waves caressing the white sand of Waikiki, to the lush green vegetation to the black of the volcanic rock of Diamond Head , Honolulu where the historic meets the new…

“Hawaii is not a state of mind, but a state of grace.”

Paul Theroux

Fireworks

  • Located at the Hawaiian Hilton village, but go to the beach by the outriggers and watch this spectacular show.
  •  Get there early as it gets busy on the beach, Friday nights.

Nature’s gifts

  • Sunsets – the coast is the best place, we found that the same place as the fireworks was a good spot, so romantic as well
  • Sunrise – I know your on holiday you don’t want to get up early, it’s worth it,  beautiful colours, quite calm sea, what a way to start the day

Hanauma Bay

  • Halona Point – good views of the the white of crashing waves against the dark of the volcanic rock
  • Also home the to blowpoint of the same name which was made thousands of years ago formed of molten lava tubes
  • Next to this is the beach from the film from here to eternity

Waikiki Beach

  • This section of the coast is so full of different things to see and do
  • The obvious is to hang out on the sand or go in the sea ( we were in the sea, and a turtle swam up, if this isn’t bucketlist I don’t know what is)
  • Watch the paddleboarders, surfers etc honing their water skills
  • In the area there is also DUKE KAHANAMOKU statue who is father of surfing on the island and you will see lots of things that relate to him in the area.
  • Such a good vibe and people milling around so sit relax and people watch

Downtown Honolulu

  • King Kamehameha Statue -the statue is the most recognized statue of the famous King.  It was commissioned by King David Kalakaua in 1878
  • Iolani Palace was the official residence of the reigning Hawaiian sovereign, King Kamehameha, and the only royal palace in the United States.  The Palace was built in 1882, and has been meticulously restored.
  • Hawaii State Art Museum – a magnificent building in the Spanish Mission style, with an enormous Moroccan mosaic fountain.  Originally built as a hotel in 1872.
  • We could go on but these are a few points of interest to get a true feel of historic Hawaii.
