Using a hop on, hop off bus is a great way to see a city in a short period of time, allowing you to jump off the bus to see what your interested in and then jump right back on the next one!

“On a bus, your eyes, ears, and pores are open absorbing in the variety, the wonder, and the magic of the city. It’s a wonderful way to get to know the city.”
 -George Takei

Hop On Hop Off Buses

The Waikiki Trolley

Why?

Sightseeing
  • The place you are visiting knows the great sites it has for you to see and the companies who run the buses make their routes based on the must see places
  • It can save you money, especially if there are different areas to visit, don’t forget if you are staying somewhere for 10 days for instance it maybe beneficial to buy 14 days as it could be cheaper.
  • Stops congestion, if more people use these buses than less cars with fewer traffic jams.
  • Saves you from searching round for a tourist attraction – which gives you more holiday back

What you get for your money?

Italian Coast
  • Transport to sites, get on and off where and when you want too or stay on if you don’t want to get off
  • Headphones to listen to a guided tour normally have quite a few languages, sometimes there is a guide on the bus, sometimes a recording
  • Map to show routes and attractions you may want to visit and timetables, some large companies have an app to track the buses ( not sure how accurate these are)

Tips

Miami
  • Check their website to see if they are going where you want to visit, also check for purchasing online discounts
  • See what kind of passes they offer – some offer 1 day, 3 day, 7 day or 14 days passes for more competitive rates. So we stayed for 10 day but to buy the 14 day was cheaper per day than buying a 7 day and 3 day.
  • Check their website for inclusive attractions some have deals and sometimes offer free enterance or a deal with certain combo tickets
  • Tip on the bus our favourites are open top we find out which side of the bus to sit on is best to see the sights from.
  • If the top of the bus has a partial cover sit towards the back of the bus so you have a clear view, also avoid the temptation to sit at the front especially if the weather is hot the sun radiates through the window
  • Check the last bus back time
