Intro to Cadbury World
John Cadbury opened a grocers shop in Birmingham selling cocoa, drinking chocolate, coffee and tea in 1824. He prepared his chocolate with a pestle and mortar. In 1831, the Cadbury manufacturing business began and was produced commercially. An interesting fact is that Hersheys own the rights to manufacture cadbury chocolate in the US. It banned British imports of Cadbury in 2015. Although the recipe according to Hersheys is the same, it’s said that the British version has a higher fat and cocoa content. Let’s see go see for ourselves.

9.30am- 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday - The car parking is free and there is an overflow car park which is great for seeing the Cadbury and Bournville signs.
Before you go in
- There is a monster kind of truck outside for getting a quick selfie with
- The overflow car park for the signs on the factories and a train if you go down the stairs at the over flow car park.
- The Cadbury Trail – this is a must do as it gets you ready for the whole experience, as you walk from the entrance to Bournville Station, you wander along a path with the factories on the left. There are also sign with interesting facts and the main reason we suggested to walk round first is the smells wafting out of the factories – warm chocolate and we think biscuits.
Inside the Chocolate World
- On entry to the attraction, you get given 3 chocolate bars per person and I would suggest having something to carry them in if you’re not eating them straight away or alternatively they can sell you a little cadbury branded bag for £1.
- You then walk through the history of cocoa and cadbury and other areas.
- Highlights of the self guided tour were seeing the chocolate being tempered, mixed, getting a little pot of melted chocolate with 2 topping of your choice, Writing your name in chocolate. There is also the largest collection of Cadbury memorabilia that was donated by a super fan on her death.
- Nearly forget the biggest Cadbury shop is here too
